Your Purpose is Calling
Humans are meant to have a purpose. We experience deep existential peace and contentment when we understand our purpose and live into it. Our purpose doesn’t have to be grandiose. It can be simple: making people’s lives a little better, making your home lovely, or raising your children to be kind. When we feel unfulfilled, empty, or discontent, these are often signs of disconnection from our purpose. Knowing our purpose and aligning our time and energy investments with our purpose makes us feel fulfilled and content. As a coach, I see how important purpose is to fuel my clients’ motivation, passion, and impact. I want that for you, too!
What’s my purpose?
If you don’t have a sense of your purpose, consider these prompts:
1) What value most drives me? What activities do I do (or want to do) that reflect these values?
2) What’s a moment when I felt I was doing what I was meant to do?
3) What need in the world, and in my individual sphere, do I feel called to meet?

I know my purpose, but how can I align my time and energy with my purpose?
Knowing your purpose, but not acting on feels discordant. We know what we want to be doing, but we’re just not doing it. Over time, this can lead to deep frustration with ourselves. If this sounds like you, ask yourself:
1) What’s stopping me from spending more time and energy living my purpose? Write all the reasons. Notice which of these are old stories or excuses. If there are practical obstacles, start brainstorming ways to solve them.
2) Keep a log of how you spend your time over the next two weeks. Be honest. Notice where you’re “wasting” your time and could use this time better toward the purpose you care about.
3) Experiment with trying out a couple of tasks that are aligned with your purpose. Notice the impact on your energy, emotions, and thoughts. What would it take to carve out more time for these purpose-aligned activities?
So…given all of this, how will you commit to understanding and living in alignment with your purpose? Imagine how your day-to-day will change when you claim your birthright to enjoy a purposeful life.
