Frequently Asked Questions

  • Coaching looks forward toward what you want to create in the world, how you want to maximize your potential, and ways to shift from where you are to where you want to be. In coaching, much of the work happens in between sessions when the client is experimenting with new habits, thoughts, and actions, journaling/thinking through questions that arose in coaching, and noticing/observing changes. Therapy often looks back at the roots of challenges you encounter now. In my coaching, I do not directly work on mental health challenges, addiction, or trauma, as a therapist would.

  • I invoice monthly, and clients sign up for a 6- or 12-month coaching engagement. This enables my clients to create sustainable change. I do not offer single sessions because I don't find this to be an effective method for transformation.

  • NOPE. The client is responsible for the work in between sessions, for coming to sessions ready with a topic to dive into, for making decisions about their own life. Please be wary of any coach that offers guaranteed outcomes.

  • I'm not the right coach for everyone. When researching coaches, it's important to find someone whose approach resonates with you and with whom you feel comfortable. It is crucial to be able to trust your coach fully and know they want the absolute best for you (even when coaching gets challenging).

  • I'm a professional executive & leadership coach and the founder of Root Coaching & Consulting, LLC. I have a degree in law, as well as my CPCC and ACC coaching certifications. Before starting my own business, I worked in education policy at non-profit organizations and the U.S. Department of Education.
